Hello dear forum members!

With the typically low flow temperatures of underfloor heating in heat pump systems, it is often necessary to have an additional heater in the bathroom to reach around 24°C (75°F) or so when needed. Common options as far as I know are…

- Laying underfloor heating under the shower and bathtub
- Extending underfloor heating loops up the walls (which is said to be quite expensive)
- Electric towel radiators
- Infrared mirrors
- Surface-mounted infrared wall or ceiling panels

I recently came across very thin infrared heaters designed to be embedded in the wall or ceiling, such as Frenzelit Hicotherm mats or Carbon4 heating paint. However, it seems to me that these embedded infrared heaters are rarely used in new builds for the purpose of an additional bathroom heater as described. At least, I couldn’t find much information online and this forum hardly discusses them either. What’s the downside compared to other additional bathroom heating options?

I suspect that even for a small area, it would be significantly more expensive than a mass-produced infrared wall panel or mirror.

Does anyone have experience with or recommendations for embedded infrared heating systems? What about costs and availability of contractors who install them?

Thanks a lot!
Jo
