Hello,
I want to lay a weed fabric around my rose bushes. It’s a long hedge. However, the weeds are growing so aggressively underneath that I can’t keep them under control. I’m concerned whether enough water will still penetrate down to the roots. Has anyone had experience with this? Can I simply place it over the weeds now in winter so that they die off underneath?

Do stones have to be placed there? I was thinking of bark mulch...?

That is also possible.

We have just recently installed it. According to the "instruction leaflet," the weeds should ideally be removed completely beforehand, and the fabric should be covered with at least 5 cm (2 inches) for UV protection and to prolong its lifespan. We also have bark mulch, but whether it is consistently 5 cm (2 inches) thick...?

It doesn't matter...
