Hello everyone,
I plan to do the core drilling for my stove connection this weekend.
Parameters:
- Flue pipe diameter: 130mm (5 inches)
- Chimney inner diameter approximately 140mm (5.5 inches, including the extended collar)
- Wall is unplastered
Regarding the drilling:
What diameter should I use for the core drill hole?
I have diamond core drill bits of 153mm (6 inches) and 183mm (7 inches) available.
For installing the double-wall sleeve:
The sleeve is wrapped with ceramic insulation wool so that it just fits into the drilled hole, correct?
Afterwards, the gap on both sides is filled with refractory mortar.
Should I install the sleeve flush with the masonry or have it protruding about 1.5cm (0.6 inches) so it will be flush with the plaster later?
Should I size the sleeve at the back to match the chimney flue diameter exactly or should it just reach up to the flue, filling the rest with refractory mortar?

Thanks and best regards,
Michael
