Hello everyone,

There are a total of 3 outdoor water faucets on our property. Since we don’t need them, I’m wondering if it’s okay to just dig them up and remove them. What should I watch out for? Are there any risks involved?

According to the previous owner, they used these faucets to water the large garden. The supply line is no longer in use, and I would prefer to have the faucets in a different location anyway.

What do you think? My main concern is whether this could be dangerous in any way and what I need to consider. I understand it will be a lot of work 🙂

Gardening itself can be dangerous 😉
So, grab the spade and start digging...

You just need to be sure that the garden pump is really disconnected (or the water supply from the house).

So, the water pipe is no longer intact and was disconnected years ago, according to the neighbor who used it at the time. Can I just dig it up? I don’t want to have to excavate the entire system and end up inside her house someday 🙂

Just the part that is on my property so far.

That’s risky. We’ve had a similar case where something like this was claimed. The pipe was partially removed on the outside and the old line was left in place. Later, someone unaware turned valves in the basement, and water ran outside all weekend. The liability and damage costs were then shared.
