annab377Hello,
Our architect actually recommended clay roof tiles, but an acquaintance suggested that we should also consider fiber cement roof tiles (Eternit), as they are significantly more affordable than clay tiles.
Concrete roof tiles are less of an option for us due to some negative reports about them deteriorating after a few decades.
Has anyone had experience with the company Eternit? Asbestos hasn’t been used for several years now, so what are the pros and cons of fiber cement panels as roof covering?
Thank you very much for all suggestions and experiences.

Concrete roof tiles are excluded because of rather negative claims that they deteriorate after a few decades, etc. “Rather negative claims”? Another myth.
It’s all a matter of taste and budget. Nothing more, nothing less.
Yes, in terms of appearance, I think clay and concrete roof tiles are now very similar. Both are available in all shapes.
It's a tough decision. Of course, I don’t want to spend unnecessary money if there is a more affordable but equally durable option. What kind of roofing do you have, @nordanney?

What do you have on your roof, @nordanney?For our private homes, we used concrete roof tiles in the last two houses. The rental properties I manage also have them. A lifespan of 50 years is sufficient—usually, the builders decay long before that...
