Good morning,

how much importance do you actually place on the electricity consumption of large electrical appliances in your home?

For example, if I can save around 200€ when purchasing, I keep reconsidering it.

Everyone, you’ve kind of strayed from the topic....

I always pay attention to this outdoors to keep my operating costs low. I prefer to pay a little more upfront and then spend less in the long run. That makes more sense, and eventually it pays off since these devices usually aren’t that much more expensive.

That’s true, the devices aren’t that much more expensive, but if everything together costs maybe 2000€ more, you can still consume a lot of electricity for 2000€ before it pays off. You really have to hope the devices last that long.

Yes, that’s kind of my problem too. I pay an extra 200€ (about 220 USD) for a device and calculate that it will be worth it after 6 years, but if the device breaks down after 4 years, then relying on energy savings wasn’t such a great idea.

That can happen to you with a non-energy-saving appliance as well, that it breaks down.

Yes, but the non-energy-saving device costs 200€ less, that’s what I meant. I didn’t want to say that energy-saving devices are worse or that they all break down after a certain number of years.
But you’re right, maybe we should think about the environment.
