Hello everyone,

Are there any recommendations or experience reports regarding light fixture installation (recessed spotlights, pendant lamps) with a solid wood ceiling? Especially the light above a dining table, since during the construction phase you probably don’t have the table or its exact position yet, and therefore cannot determine the exact spot for the fixture. And if the wiring is installed from the floor above, the position has to be fixed precisely. With a suspended ceiling, you have more flexibility because the wiring inside the ceiling cavity can be adjusted to some extent. I would appreciate hearing about your experiences, maybe even with some photos.

Thank you very much

You don’t need a hole saw. There are Forstner bits with a diameter of 56mm (2.2 inches). You just need to hold the drill securely.

I didn’t use those; instead, I opted for small surface-mounted spotlights.

Which ones did you choose? I found many more recessed spotlights, especially affordable ones.
