Do you know how I can tell where an electrical cable runs inside a wall without using any tools? I need to drill about 3cm deep (1 inch). The only issue is the location in the wall. Unfortunately, there is an electrical cable nearby. How can I find out the path of the cable? Is there some kind of channel that can be detected by tapping? The cable must be routed somehow. If nothing else works, where is the best place to buy a detector like that?

Okay, a clamp meter is fine, but you should be careful not to buy a device that is too cheap. If something goes wrong, the consequences can be very costly, especially with old walls that are still coated with reed. If a cable gets damaged and a smoldering fire starts, well...

Cutting corners here is the wrong approach. I also bought one of these devices without focusing on the cost. I even share it with my family and friends, who have other devices that I can also use.
