Do you know how I can tell where an electrical cable runs inside a wall without using any tools? I need to drill about 3cm deep (1 inch). The only issue is the location in the wall. Unfortunately, there is an electrical cable nearby. How can I find out the path of the cable? Is there some kind of channel that can be detected by tapping? The cable must be routed somehow. If nothing else works, where is the best place to buy a detector like that?

Unfortunately, there is no way to locate an electrical cable installed flush within the wall without technical assistance.

The moderator is unfortunately right; in the past, with half-timbered houses, it was sometimes possible to discover something like that by tapping, but today with common plasters and walls, it is no longer possible.

Hello, it's a pity that this can no longer be clearly seen, but fortunately, a device that detects electrical wiring isn't very expensive anymore 🙂 I have already found some useful ones for 25 to 40, so better than having to break open the entire wall 🙂

You can find these in any electronics store or even at hardware stores. They are really affordable and can be used multiple times. Everything else is a gamble.

I’m telling you, they can be used repeatedly, and they’re not that expensive anyway. If you cut corners in the wrong place here, it can even be fatal.
