Hello,
I just signed up and have a question about bathroom renovation: We want to redesign our bathroom a bit and remodel the wash area along with the shower.
Currently, we have two separate washbasins installed, which we would like to replace with a double vanity. The mounting brackets are already in place, which we will probably be able to use.
The drains are installed about 90 cm (35 inches) apart. However, when I look at vanities online, it rarely states how far apart the drain or water supply connections are.
Would installing a double vanity still be straightforward (assuming the vanity is large enough), or do you have to buy one with exact matching connections? I assume there is some flexibility with the water supply and drain connections.
Thank you!

Hello, sorry to join in here, but we are currently deciding between a double vanity or two separate sinks.
Why do you no longer want two separate sinks in the new bathroom? At the moment, we have two simple sinks, but we would like a vanity unit with storage underneath. Since we need the storage space, we have decided on a double vanity.

Viererkette11 Mar 2023 08:56I also noticed that the mounting needs to fit properly. Is it standardized? From what I understand, it would be quite complicated if you had to change it.
Just describe the house and take some photos of the existing setup. Double washbasins are usually connected together. Twin ceramic basins, however, have a very 1970s retro look. A more contemporary solution is often seen as two separate basins positioned quite flexibly relative to each other, each installed on its own cabinet base. Try searching the forum for the keyword "washbasin" yourself—you’ll find dozens of threads on the topic. The second, otherwise unused connections can sometimes be repurposed for the washing machine, or you might need to consider partially decommissioning them to avoid turning dead-end pipes into a breeding ground for bacteria.
