Hello everyone,
we are currently working on a practical solution for our hallway area.
We have a relatively narrow hallway, so there is limited space for shoes near the front door. Therefore, we would like to walk about 2 meters (6.5 feet) into the house WITH our shoes on, and then take them off and store them at a suitable spot.
For this, we need a relatively long runner/rug of about 2 to 3 meters (6.5 to 10 feet) that is, of course, winterproof, easy to wipe clean or vacuum, and also visually appealing.
What bothers me a lot is that a normal “carpet” gets dirty very quickly, especially in winter. Washable rugs in 3 meters (10 feet) length are rather impractical for the washing machine.
Does anyone have any ideas or has already thought about something similar and perhaps found a suitable solution?

The main concern is really you and the everyday dirt, right? What guests do, you can show them when they arrive: take their coats, hang them where you planned, and the same goes for shoes. And if they track in dirt anyway, well, that happens. Tip: don’t clean before guests come, but rather afterward.
Is the door a bit distorted? It looks like it’s about 1.5 meters (5 feet) wide.
For hardwood floors, I would also recommend using a rug or an outdoor mat (there’s a reason hallways are often tiled). The issue might be the height difference.
You might even be able to place a rug outside that can be shaken out weekly.
For benches or wooden stools, there are plenty of options where you can put mats underneath.
We have tiles, step inside, and then, after two steps, you’re on a round washable rug. That’s where shoes are taken off and placed in the wardrobe. We have tiles throughout. The lower floor (including the living room, etc.) is fully tiled.
So, a rug wouldn’t really make sense.
Maybe we’ll go with a bench with a mat underneath—otherwise, just a mat—we’ll see.
Thanks for the input so far!

We have tiled everything completely.Well then…The 3D model shows hardwood flooring.
Try it as suggested.
