Hello everyone,
We had a construction meeting today with our tiler.
Unfortunately, my wishes cannot be realized...
We will have 120x60cm (47x24 inches) tiles in the bathrooms, both on the walls and on the floor.
I would like continuous grout lines (from wall to floor), but also as many large or full tiles as possible.
Unfortunately, this plan doesn’t work in our bathroom. In the middle of the bathroom, there would be narrow tile pieces about 20 to 30cm (8 to 12 inches) wide.
How do you handle this? Do you prioritize a uniform grout joint from wall to floor?
Or do you give up on that in favor of better tile layout on the floor?
I’m really torn...

I don’t want to do the entire homework for you, so I’ve just marked three possible reference points, each intended as the position of a joint intersection:

I only thought about cutting the joint after all the plumbing work was already done... UNFORTUNATELY! Where does the trauma come from that the bathroom’s appeal depends on joints running along the wall-floor boundary?
If necessary, use a less contrasting joint color so that this supposed disaster fades more into the background.
Have you already tried testing with my three zero points a bit to see if you would be satisfied with the result?

I would consider the "fear" that you might not like it for long more justified: especially with strong contrasts between the grout and tile colors, I, as a non-masochist, would never think of covering the surrounds of a comfort space with a 3D grid. The large checkered pattern somehow reminds me of YPS, even though it is not light blue with yellow grout.
