Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to get a KALLAX shelf unit and am considering covering the outer surface with artificial leather to make it more durable and give it a higher-quality appearance. Do any of you have experience with using artificial leather as a covering for the KALLAX? I am particularly interested in aspects such as durability, maintenance effort, appearance after extended use, and how well the artificial leather adheres to the wooden or particleboard surface. Has anyone got tips on the application process or encountered any issues?
I would really appreciate it if you could share your experiences, including any recommendations for suitable products or techniques. Thank you in advance!

Hey, that sounds like an exciting DIY project! 🙂 I think faux leather really gives the KALLAX a cool look, almost like a stylish piece of furniture!
Of course, the piece needs to be glued well, and a bit of padding would be great to avoid it looking like cardboard. Maintenance is easy; usually just a damp cloth is enough.
For me, the appeal lies in the mix of casual and elegant – and if something wears out over time, there’s nothing better than updating it with a new cover. Have fun crafting! ;-)
