We have bought an old house and are currently renovating. Now we want to convert the upstairs bathroom into a regular room because we don’t need two full bathrooms. The bathroom currently has a toilet, sink, shower, and a washing machine connection.
We want to remove the pipes as much as possible and then seal them off. Here is the problem:
We can only shut off the main water valve. Upstairs, we have not found any point where the bathroom or its water supply line can be isolated.
How do you properly shut off a water line so that no water comes out when removing the fixtures? And most importantly: How do you seal a water supply line in a way that prevents contamination if it is no longer in use? Whenever I search online, I only find answers about wastewater pipes but nothing regarding water supply lines.
