Hello,

I am receiving a credit of about €5000 for the floor coverings (50 sqm (540 sq ft) tiles + 50 sqm (540 sq ft) laminate), approximately 100 sqm (1080 sq ft) in total, from my builder.

Can the €5000 credit be applied to 100 sqm (1080 sq ft) of vinyl flooring (around €30 per sqm (approximately $30 per sq ft) plus labor and moldings, etc.)?
Is the credit amount reasonable?

Thank you.

Yes, that is already quite good... seems fair.

This will be tight. It also depends on whether it will be glued down or installed as a click-lock system with additional impact sound insulation...

A click-lock option is preferred, and there is already a good one available for €30/sqm (approximately $32/sqft), which amounts to €3000 in material costs. €2000 should cover baseboards, vapor barrier, labor, and other expenses, right?

Is it possible or allowed to install the click-lock flooring directly on the screed?

With or without a beam? If you use one, you definitely need a membrane underneath as well.

€2000 for installation seems steep, especially for click-lock flooring!

Baseboards and underlayment probably don’t cost that much, and click vinyl is usually quick to install—especially if you have experience.

I’m not sure if you always need underlayment. I’ve seen several click vinyl floors sold as ready to install, meaning no underlayment was required. Maybe it was just assumed that installing underlayment goes without saying...

€: I just looked up typical floor installation costs. Prices between €15-30 per m² (approximately $14-28 per sq. ft.) seem normal. Wow, that’s quite something. I think I might have to start a small business as a floor installer.
