Hello everyone in the forum!

Maybe you have an idea for a cover for the base of our 3 x 3 meter (10 x 10 feet) cantilever umbrella. Currently, it is held down by four concrete slabs, but they don’t look very attractive and the kids often stub their toes on them. We are now considering getting a cover (so far we have only found unattractive wooden ones or ones costing more than €250), or using fillable plastic boxes. However, I’ve often read that these tend to leak after about a year or are too light, causing the umbrella to tip over.

A permanently buried base is not an option yet, as we are still looking for the right position.

Do you perhaps have some good ideas?

Thank you!

Best regards,

The main focus is actually on the appearance. People put effort into making the terrace inviting, but right in the middle there are four 50cm x 50cm (20 inches x 20 inches) gray concrete slabs. Practical, but not very attractive. 😉
Then you could arrange some pots with greenery, shrubs, or flowers on the slabs. That would look nice too 🙂

For example, we used the same bricks as on the terrace. They hardly stand out. Otherwise, we used materials like Douglas fir boards and did the construction ourselves.

Maybe the other way around?

We have roughly centered the umbrella (4m (13 feet) diagonal) in the ground (with a mounting tube and spiral at the bottom)
and then adjust the table position as needed. The goal is simply to find the optimal position
within an approximately 90° sun angle sector (for roughly 12 PM to 6 PM sun position).
