Hello,
I am planning to build or have built a timber frame shell house.
Does anyone have experience with the approximate costs for materials needed for the interior finishing of a timber frame house?
Specifically, I am looking for the costs of insulation, drywall or paneling, and screed. Wallpaper and floor coverings are not included for me.
The living area should be around 120 to 150 m² (1,290 to 1,615 sq ft).

Regards,
Kero

Hello,
I don’t think you can really generalize here; it always depends on the quality of the materials you want. You should get a quote. Or do you plan to do everything yourself? Then, of course, it will be cheaper!?

Hi,
it depends on whether you do everything yourself or hire someone else. In the first case, you only have the direct costs for the materials. Otherwise, labor costs can be quite high, considering that a craftsman easily charges over 50 euros per hour, not including materials!

Hello,
I only need the materials; I will install them myself. I have the tools available (consumables like saw blades will, of course, need to be purchased if necessary). Time is not an issue since I currently live rent-free.

Hi Kero,
even if you do everything yourself, you still need to factor in your time, because when you are on the construction site, you can’t work your regular job. Even if you do all the work in your free time, you will probably need helpers; I can’t imagine it working any other way.

Hi,
if you want to do everything yourself, you must not forget that often you earn more at work than when you take time off to do the work yourself. Skilled tradespeople are expensive, but it can be cheaper to pay others than to take unpaid leave.
