Hello everyone,

I’m completely new here and really glad to have found this forum.

I’m currently working on assembling my IKEA kitchen in alder birch. I’m really looking forward to when everything is finished and the kitchen can be put to use.

Now to my question above:

I urgently need a way to connect the baseboard around a corner!?? Basically, a standard outside corner for the 16cm (6 inch) baseboard!
But I just can’t seem to find anything, not at IKEA, not at the hardware store...

Can anyone help me out here?

Best regards, Sarreländer

Miter joint – silicone – glue? Do you have a different set of instructions than these?

Yes, exactly those I have!

The information you mentioned is also printed on the inside of the packaging... there is also a version listed for cutting baseboards with miter joints and connecting them with silicone (glue was my version).

I wouldn’t recommend mitering and gluing. Getting it perfectly precise is difficult, and you’ll regret it if you ever need to open the base later on.

Exactly, Ikea expert, I agree. It might be the only possible option, not ideal though, but I unfortunately have to decide soon.... I also don’t really like the butt joint.

That’s why I’m looking for suitable external corners for my project.... but I really can’t find any, I don’t understand why....

How about using wall plugs and butt joints? It’s easy to fix and provides a solid connection...

Alternatively, you could build a base drawer underneath, which would naturally make the loose connection visible.
