Hello everyone,

My underfloor heating system has been running for about 6 months now, and I noticed some time ago that the control valves’ actuators are very dirty. It looks like there might be algae or something similar on them.

I don’t think this is normal. But is it common? Could something have gone wrong here?

Best regards

This is called biofouling and, if it appears so soon after moving in, it is caused by improperly filled systems, leaking systems (oxygen ingress), or also by non-noble components within the system.

Thank you for the response. That doesn’t sound good! What could be filled in incorrectly there?

Contaminated water, air bubbles, ... There are many things that can go wrong.

What could possibly go wrong with filling that?
Just about everything. If you didn’t pay attention in chemistry class and then ended up in plumbing/heating... this is the result.

Make a complaint? I guess the chances of success are probably low, right?
