Hi,

I have the initial selection appointment in two weeks.
The standard roof tile is the Fingenberger longlife glossy concrete roof tile.
I have the option to upgrade to clay roof tiles for an additional cost.
I often hear and read that clay roof tiles last twice as long as concrete roof tiles.

What do you think?
I would really appreciate any tips.

Regards,
Michi

We were also faced with this question. The building expert and hgerike summarized it well: clay tiles are smoother, including types like Protegon or Longlife, so they tend to stay cleaner longer and are less likely to develop moss. For me, especially with an additional matte glaze, clay tiles would be the preferred choice. Soundproofing and insulation were less of a concern for us. However, the price difference between clay and the matte-finish Protegon was almost 4000 EUR (approximately 4300 USD). We decided to invest that money elsewhere instead. In the end, it always comes down to priorities and what each general contractor includes as standard or charges as additional costs.

What are your current experiences after about 2 years? Has anyone chosen the Braas Harzer Pfanne 7Big roofing tile?

Braas Harzer roofing tiles have been on our roof since May 2017. They are still completely clean.
