Hi,

I have the initial selection appointment in two weeks.
The standard roof tile is the Fingenberger longlife glossy concrete roof tile.
I have the option to upgrade to clay roof tiles for an additional cost.
I often hear and read that clay roof tiles last twice as long as concrete roof tiles.

What do you think?
I would really appreciate any tips.

Regards,
Michi

Opinions differ on this... but when I look at the roofs of my neighbors, who built 1-2 years before us, I’m glad I paid the extra cost for clay tiles.

How much is the additional cost?

Hello,

15 years ago, we chose concrete roof tiles and would never do that again. The tiles get dirty very quickly.
We are now paying a small extra cost for glazed clay roof tiles and have had a beautiful roof for years.

Best regards

In my experience, the key factor is the type of coating on the concrete roof tiles; clay tiles are more expensive mostly because they tend to break more easily during transport and installation.

A well-known manufacturer offers a 30-year warranty on their roofing materials, including both concrete tiles and clay tiles.

We chose concrete roof tiles, even though clay tiles would not have cost extra, because they are said to provide better sound insulation. Due to the low roof pitch, we do not expect faster soiling anyway.
