Hello everyone,

We are going to install a split air conditioning system with two indoor units. We can connect the drainage of the first unit to the sewage system. Unfortunately, the slope for the second unit is too shallow. However, the unit is located quite close to the rain gutter. I could route the drainage through the exterior wall and then directly into the downspout. Is this possible?

Regards and thanks

Possible yes, definitely not permitted.

That is just water, so why should it not be allowed?

As I have read, it is quite common for condensate from flat roofs to be drained via the outdoor unit, which then ends up in the rain gutter over the flat roof.

Hello
This is definitely possible and also permitted.
Alternatively, a small condensate pump is also an option.

My HVAC installer said that he would prefer to avoid the pump if possible, since they tend to be prone to malfunctions. What disadvantages would there be if we vent to the outside?
