Hello,
We have been offered a house with interior masonry walls and brick cladding around the outside. However, the exterior rendering of the brick joints has been missing for a few years.
Could the masonry have been damaged because of this?
What approximate costs should I expect for the rendering work (dimensions about 13m x 10m (42.7 ft x 32.8 ft), gable roof)?

No one can say for sure here. The stone usually doesn’t break. Insulation behind it? Normally, you would already see some change from the outside if there were a water problem, but have a jointing specialist or bricklayer take a look. Without seeing it on site, it’s just speculation.
We often have old historic houses that haven’t even been pointed, and rarely does anything happen there either.
