Hello everyone,

I am planning to install carpet flooring in the bedroom. This way, it won’t feel as cold underfoot, and I can walk around barefoot more comfortably. We have underfloor heating, and my question is:

Does carpet act as an insulator or does it allow the heat to pass through?

Thank you very much for your answers.

Hi

Personally, I don’t think that’s a good idea. Now my question is, do you want to cover the entire room with carpet?

I think smaller rugs or runners are better.

Wouldn’t that be enough?

In any case, I would not install a full carpet. That is not a good idea, and I believe the carpet is not suitable for underfloor heating.

There are carpets that are suitable for underfloor heating. I wouldn’t categorically deny that. Just check online, as manufacturers present their products there.

We also have carpet and underfloor heating in the bedroom. The carpet is fully glued down, and in winter, it keeps the feet warm.

I don’t find it unreasonable to combine carpet flooring with underfloor heating. I just can’t warm up to the idea of tiles in the bedroom. These days, there is a wide variety of carpet options available.

I also think there is already a good selection of carpets here. I wouldn’t simply rule them out. Especially in winter, they are quite comfortable. However, when buying a carpet, be sure to ask if it is compatible with underfloor heating.
