ᐅ Adding a Branch to an Underground Stormwater Pipe After Installation

Hello,
I have a problem and haven’t found a satisfactory solution yet.
Some time ago, I connected the roof drainage to the soakaway using PVC pipes.
Now we are building the carport, and the roof drainage there should also be connected to the soakaway. To save on excavation work, I want to add a branch to the existing underground piping later on.
What is the best way to do this? Cutting out a section and clamping in a branch piece? With the risk that it might not fit perfectly.
Are there more efficient solutions for adding a branch retrospectively?
Best regards

The magic word is "slip coupling."
You cut out enough pipe material so that a branch with three couplings can fit, plus a roughly 30cm (12 inches) long piece with plain ends (you can get this from the removed pipe length minus the branch length). Then you assemble the branch onto the existing pipeline and slide the slip coupling onto the piece or the other end of the existing pipeline. Once you have the new section (branch plus plain-ended piece) in place, gently tap the slip coupling so it sits centered over the new-to-old connection.
