Hello everyone, I bought the Billy shelf from IKEA, but the instructions are quite confusing and some steps seem unclear to me. I’m especially unsure about the correct placement of the back panel and how to properly install the shelves to ensure they remain stable. Are there any specific tips on what to pay attention to during assembly to avoid mistakes? I don’t want the shelf to end up wobbly or with the back panel not fitting correctly. Thanks for your help!

It is also important to position the small nails correctly. They can secure the back panel well if they are driven in straight. Careful work helps.

The best way to align the back panel is to lay the shelf flat on the floor and place the back panel flush against it

Thanks, I will try it like that.

What is the best way to hammer in the nails to avoid splitting? Is there a recommended force or technique to prevent damaging the wood?

Nails should be carefully and evenly driven in with a small hammer. Start with light taps and gradually apply more force. Placing a board underneath to prevent splintering is also helpful.

One more tip: The shelves can usually be hung at different heights. Pay attention to the marked drill holes and use small rubber stoppers, if available, to prevent slipping.
