Hello,

Our construction company recommends a backwater valve with pump function, Kessel Pumpfix S, due to a slight slope and basement. The cost will be roughly between €4,000 and €5,000.

Alternatively, we could install a standard backwater valve for only a few hundred euros.

What do you think? Are there clear advantages or disadvantages? How do you decide on something like this?

Best regards and many thanks

Our builder also wanted to install the Pumpfix, but I thought it was too expensive. We went with the Staufix instead, which is an electric backwater valve. (By the way, it can operate several times on battery power without being connected to the mains.)

I would just make sure that the floors above the backwater level (for us, only the upper floor) have drainage routed past the valve. That way, the drainage will still work even in a backwater situation.
