Hello everyone,

In our bathroom, the walls behind the toilet and the washbasin will be tiled with stone-effect tiles (the kind that look like stacked stones).

Question: Is it a problem to mount the toilet / flush plate on this stone wall? The surface is quite uneven.
Does it look unprofessional? What does the plumber say about this, or does he have any solutions?

Thank you very much for your help!

I think the "gaps" between the ceramic and stone will remain solely your issue.

Normally, the joint between them is filled with silicone. A few millimeters can be compensated this way.

Thank you for your reply!

Regarding the silicone, my question is whether it looks visually "cheap" when you fill it in and it isn’t perfectly straight. Or does that not stand out negatively?

And how about the actuator plate?

You are already answering your own question in your initial query.
That might be why very few people have such a rough and uneven stone wall in their bathroom.
Besides this issue, there is also the dust problem: where towels are waved around, more dust accumulates than elsewhere. This dust then settles on the rough wall.

Is it not possible to install the fixture as a concealed (built-in) installation?

How is the toilet supposed to hang straight like that? It just won't work. Besides, I'd be worried that the ceramic might crack if it's stressed against such an uneven surface.
