Hello everyone,

I’m new here and was a bit surprised by how many topics there are about asbestos. I’ve read a lot, but as a layperson, I’m still stuck. That’s why I’m here, though.

My girlfriend and I are currently working on bringing her mother’s house up to standard. After finding some asbestos panels in the attic, I started looking into where else this material might be present. The house was built sometime around the 1960s or 1970s.

Right now, I’m working on the garden shed and actually had a question about the masonry. While taking photos, I noticed some fibers. Honestly, I’m quite nervous now because I’ve already spent a lot of time in the shed, working and vacuuming.

Hard to say, but not fine enough for asbestos. Hold a lighter to it briefly. If it shrinks or curls up, then it is fiberglass.

You are allowed to look at it. Do not lick or chew on it!
