BeckikaWe own a large weekend property with several building zones. According to the development plan, you are allowed to build a 70 sqm (750 sq ft) house in each building zone.
Is it allowed to build two smaller houses within the building zone instead of one large house, as long as their total area does not exceed 70 sqm (750 sq ft)? We would like to build two small wooden houses.
Also, does the gap between the houses count towards the 70 sqm (750 sq ft)?
I couldn’t find any information about this in the development plan or the regional building regulations.

Hello Beckika, why don’t you ask the responsible building authority directly? They have to approve it anyway.
Hello Vicky,
1. Because they don’t work on weekends and I have so many questions that I want to address as many as possible now.
2. Because I’m interested to know if there are any court rulings or other sources related to this that I might not be aware of at the moment.
3. Because I don’t want to call the building authority for every single question. The lady there already knows me, and it’s uncomfortable to bother someone too much.
4. Because the building authority is hard to reach, and since I work during the week, I rarely have time to call them.
And 5. because I want to help others who might have the same questions—perhaps on a public holiday—and are searching online. They can find answers quickly through this discussion. Besides, this forum benefits from more visitors as well.
