Hello everyone,

I am considering upgrading the handles on my IKEA Besta furniture because I’m not really happy with the standard handles and would like something a bit more unique.

So, my question to the community is: Are there any recommended and practical upgrades or alternative handle options for IKEA Besta that are easy to install, high-quality, and possibly look significantly better than the original handles?

I am especially interested in solutions that are not only visually appealing but also functional—that is, durable and sturdy. Has anyone had experience with specific brands, types of fittings, or installation methods?

I might also be interested in DIY tips if anyone has created their own solutions.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Also, I heard some people upgrade with handle strips, meaning continuous handles, instead of individual handles.

Handle strips are really a great option if you like a clean look. The important thing is that the cabinet fronts are sturdy, and you use high-quality adhesives or screws. With thin fronts, it can be a bit unstable, but with some care, it works perfectly.

I have them myself – they give a modern feel, and handling is easy. But yes, you need to measure very precisely, otherwise the handle won't fit perfectly.

Hey,

I really like the idea of metal handles with a matte finish as well. If you want something a bit more lively, check out handles with engraved patterns or etchings – they also come in the right size.

And don’t worry about DIY: a simple handle replacement is doable even for beginners, which quickly reduces any IKEA frustration.

Have fun customizing your Besta cabinets!
