Good morning everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the following question: Are there any known defects in Ikea Brimnes furniture, especially the versions with drawers or doors? I recently purchased several pieces from this series and have heard multiple comments about the quality, particularly concerning long-term durability and potential weak points. I am less interested in general criticism and more curious about whether specific components (e.g., hinges, drawer slides, particleboard) tend to have problems more often, or if there are any official known defects or recall actions. If anyone has practical experience or reliable information, I would appreciate a detailed response. Thank you in advance!

The Brimnes series is generally designed to match its low price. The main causes of defects are:

- Material fatigue of the particleboard due to exposure to moisture
- Wear of the guide rails caused by foreign particles
- Loosening of the fittings due to insufficient assembly

There are currently no data on recalls or official damage reports.

Proper assembly and avoiding moisture exposure are the most effective measures against defects.

If you are specifically referring to problems with the hinges or drawer slides: I experienced slight difficulties closing the doors after about 1.5 years, tightened the screws, and have had no further issues since then.
