ᐅ Final Inspection of Electrical Installation by the Certified Electrician?

Hello everyone,

I found countless threads about electrical installations (electricity, inspection, installation, own work, etc.) using the search function, but nothing suitable.

My concern: Our electrical installations are coming up soon.
I plan to have the utility connection (and possibly up to the distribution boards) done by a licensed electrician.
However, since my brother-in-law is a trained electrician (and very passionate about electricity) and has been handling everything electrical at his company for years (building small systems himself including controls, safety inspections according to BGV standards, electrical installations, etc.), he offered to do the wiring.
Of course, he cannot perform the official inspection.

So my question is: Does the electrical work have to be officially inspected by a licensed electrician afterward? And what has been your experience with a licensed electrician inspecting electrical work that they did not install themselves?

You can also check with your local electrical supplier to see if they can provide someone for a fee. This is quite common...

Hello,
we did something similar to what you want to do:
We requested quotes from several electrical companies for:
Installation of the breaker panel including basic equipment (3 circuits, RCD, etc.), wiring up to the connection point... and that’s it.
All other in-house wiring was done by ourselves. We bought the materials from a wholesale supplier and had them delivered on a pallet to our garage.

Cost (including VAT for the official electrician’s part)
approximately 4300 euros for the breaker panel (single-family house, 2 meter slots for possible photovoltaic system), wiring to the main connection including materials
+
500 euros final inspection

We had to search a bit to find an electrician who would handle the basic electrical installation and inspection, but financially it was definitely worth it compared to hiring out everything.

The correct approach would be: before starting the electrical installation, first contact a certified electrician or supervisor and discuss the system together. This will make it easier for the supervisor to confirm the correct functionality.
