In our condominium unit, the door had to be forced open – unfortunately, the door frame and door were significantly damaged and need to be repaired.
The contractor hired by the property management sent us a quote and said that only a complete replacement of the door including the frame would be economically reasonable.
The prices (net, excluding taxes):
This is a job at the Lower Saxony coast.
The cost for the door unit itself seems quite high to me.
Since I don’t have any experience in this area: Are these prices typical for the market?
Unfortunately, I can’t find the exact model – maybe I’m using the wrong search terms?

- Installation costs 502 EUR
- Astra WE door unit (door leaf with frame featuring Smart² edge, SSK 1, cladding width 80mm (3 inches), V 4426 living area, including door viewer) 833 EUR
- Miscellaneous (disposal / travel costs / door hardware) 85 EUR

Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of the door itself right now—only one of the damaged door frame.
To me, as a non-expert, the door just looks like a standard, everyday door.
Brown with a peephole.
The locking area was broken out and then temporarily fixed back in place with a metal bracket.
Of course, this is not a permanent solution.

Sounds quite expensive at first.
Installing a door through Hornbach costs 100 euros if purchased there.
For example, we have a solid core door to the basement with soundproof sealing, which would also be suitable as an apartment entrance door.
It cost about 540 euros in 2016; we installed it ourselves.
However, this is not a hassle-free package.
