ᐅ Security system upgrade with two cats – any technical experience?

In neighboring villages, there have been two break-ins reported in a short period of time. Now we’re really starting to worry that these criminals might target us as well. In Leipzig, there was actually a whole series of break-ins that was even mentioned on TV. Here in the surrounding area, we had hoped to be somewhat safer. But that now seems to be over.
When building the house, we installed wiring for an alarm system. But at the time, we didn’t fully consider that it wouldn’t work with two cats. The equipment can tolerate one cat but not two. At least, we haven’t found any system that does.
So, what can we do? We have mushroom locks on the windows and aluminum roller shutters in front of them. But that’s it. Does anyone have any tips on how to upgrade the security technically? Are cameras any use?

In private homes, usually only RC2N or at most RC2 is installed.
I wish you that, but a friend of mine had both of his big dogs killed by burglars during a break-in. And that’s not the first case I know of. I believe burglars are hardly deterred by dogs, just like car thieves. For those guys who act unscrupulously and professionally, it’s routine. For this type of burglar, there are practically no meaningful security measures for ordinary people... Even RC3 doesn’t help at all, just like an alarm system...
And if such criminals get into my house while I’m sleeping... Well, at least the dog wakes us up, and I won’t be strangled in my sleep 😉 but such scenarios are highly unlikely... The dog does deter ordinary opportunistic offenders.
I don't think we need to worry too much about those professional burglars who can break into anywhere. We don’t have anything valuable. I believe they only break in if it’s worth it.
But the roaming thieves who go from house to house and then return home to Romania after about a week—that is the group I would really like to stop, quite literally.

Dogs are absolutely useless. Every burglar has pockets full of treats or fresh hunting sausage. Even if dog owners don’t want to admit or see it: every dog is so easily bribed. Our dog is not bribable and is very suspicious of strangers; he won’t even take a treat from the vet, even though she talks to him kindly. Not all dogs are the same.
Best regards

Best regards,
SabineA large number of dogs are bribable – that’s really true. BUT: there are indeed exceptions (including ours): A stranger has ZERO chance of getting treats to the dog. Definitely not. A stranger doesn’t even set foot on our property. There is no better alarm system than our dog. And simply throwing treats or meat onto the property doesn’t work for us either. It is ignored (which surprised us at first).
Let me put it this way: As a stranger, I definitely wouldn’t sneak onto our property....
