Hello everyone, I plan to modify my IKEA Malm furniture myself and make some adjustments, such as creating more storage space, possibly changing the fronts, or repurposing the drawers. I am especially interested in practical tips on disassembling without causing damage, suitable tools, and instructions for redesigning drawers and surfaces. Handling these cheap-looking particleboard panels without swelling during processing is also a concern. Does anyone have experience with modifying Malm furniture? What steps are essential to achieve a good result? Thanks in advance for any advice and tips.

I attached them using small wooden dowels and wood glue – lightly roughen the surface beforehand. Working on top often works for smaller repairs, but for more stability, I recommend taking the drawer completely apart and rebuilding it.
