ᐅ Bathroom sink – water always flows toward the back

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my IKEA combination of the Godmorgon base cabinet and the Braviken washbasin. The water always flows towards the wall or collects in the back area where the washbasin meets the tiles. After a few months, I already have mold there. Additionally, water runs down the side of the washbasin. This design seems completely flawed, and I am considering removing it. However, it cost me quite a bit, and I generally like the look of the washbasin. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? I have attached a few photos. The washbasin is overall level, but it seems slightly tilted backward on the left side. That doesn’t really make sense since it rests on the base cabinet, which is flush against the wall. It could only be that the wall is not perfectly vertical. Tilting it forward is probably not possible, and attaching anything at the back might also be pointless. Has anyone experienced this problem or can imagine what could be done here?

If I remove the sink, it is glued to the cabinet with silicone. Can it be resealed with silicone afterwards without any issues? Silicone does not stick to silicone, right?

Yes, but you must remove all silicone completely and very thoroughly beforehand.

I just took a look at that. Did I see correctly in the photo that it curves slightly upward on the side and back, like a gentle bulge around it?
Just a very slight curve. I’d say about one millimeter (0.04 inches). I wouldn’t call it a bulge but rather a rounded edge. It apparently does a good job of preventing water from dripping off there...

Next to each washbasin, we discreetly hang a cloth (tea towel). Everyone who uses the basin quickly wipes down the ceramic and faucet afterward. This keeps everything dry and nicely clean at all times. This routine has become so second nature to us that it requires no effort at all.

In our case, the hand towel is used quite noticeably for drying off 😉

A proper ceramic surface should clean itself or not get dirty in the first place!! Cloth or no cloth :p
No, seriously. I do a thorough cleaning every few weeks, but not otherwise. It doesn’t always have to sparkle and shine—don’t you have anything better to do 😉 ?

You misunderstood! The water is wiped away, so there’s no need to clean excessively “correctly” 😉
