Good morning,
I am considering creating checklists and quick guides for "homebuilding novices" to provide a framework for basic questions about construction technology and expected quality levels, enabling people to form their own understanding.
Therefore, my question is whether this would be helpful to you and what scope such a resource should have in your opinion.
I would appreciate it if you could participate in the survey.
Please select below which checklist would be useful to you. Is something important missing? Feel free to add it in the comments 🙂

I’m not a fan of checklists like this.
I’m glad the comment from @minimini was made.
A checklist like this will confuse most people. It’s great if someone is interested in the cavity wall, damp-proof membranes, or drainage components and knows what they are, but these things should be checked by a professional.
Most people here have full-time jobs and can’t research after work in the dark whether a specific drainage fitting is correct or functioning properly. Then they would have to figure out in the evening whether what they saw is actually the component in question (and they could always ask the forum 😉)… in short: no.
I also think it’s counterproductive: once some people have a checklist in hand, they rely on it (there are definitely those kinds of people) and think they can check or control everything themselves.

I’m an amateur, and for me the example above would have to be much simpler – honestly, I don’t understand it at all. Even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to evaluate it. How am I supposed to know if the cavity wall is airtight?
That’s why we have a construction supervisor.
Who exactly is this checklist intended for?

You are thinking too analog. This could all be integrated into an app with example photos and videos. In my view, it wouldn’t be about replacing an expert, but rather identifying the need to schedule one outside of the regular process!
I would find that very valuable. Ideally, the app would even be connected to the expert, allowing them to access recordings made by the user immediately.
It could become a useful tool if approached the right way.

Simplifying is certainly the right approach, and when I prepare a sample here, I will upload it again. I naturally rely on expert knowledge and therefore sometimes have difficulties understanding the requirements – that’s why I ask questions.
As mentioned above, this should be a template. Our working student uses this form to check balcony waterproofing. I did not create those separately.

I’m not a fan of such checklists.Oh really? Who was it again that made the checklist on "what absolutely must be included in a storage room"? :-)https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/
