I’m really not familiar with this. I have seen MD used in online configurations. The windows are generally significantly cheaper there. [...] The installation costs seem extremely high to me.

There may be some profiles designed cleverly enough to perform well with rebate seals. However, in my opinion, it is generally advisable to go with a central seal (MD), since "AD" practically means "without MD." Purchasing windows with installation included is a smart choice—but unfortunately, good installation requires professionals and is therefore quite costly. Window installation is unfortunately a trade without any mandatory certification, meaning that the formal permission to work does not guarantee competence. As a result, there are more fearless amateurs working in this field than our conventional wisdom would imagine. My main reason for withdrawing from the window industry was the shortage of skilled installers in the market.

I’m just wondering why only double glazing is being installed? That’s standard from 1995.

You can also use the Fensterversand website to calculate whether the window prices are accurate.

For renovation, triple glazing is not necessarily better.
In general, that’s just another cliché repeated without real substance.

Well, a U-value of 1.1 is not just a casual saying.

But we actually don’t know the U-value of the exterior walls. So this should be taken just as a saying... everything has to fit together in a house! And if Joe had built it in 1995, he certainly wouldn’t have had triple glazing as standard in his new build.
