When the screed is finally in (hopefully next week), a few corks will be popped here.
inspired me to think about whether, especially in projects where the community has extensively "shared the struggles," the homeowners might sometimes also enjoy bringing the support from being "over the worst" into real life (?)

Many prefab home manufacturers and large-scale general contractor cooperations send newsletters when a customer’s house is completed in my or a nearby postal code area. I find the idea quite nice—to know, in a similar setting, that the other attendees are at least familiar from reading.

If you feel the same way, please share here when and where your screed party, conservatory topping-out celebration, or similar event will take place.

How was that beer party at my place?
I kind of agree with @Worrier84. I’m already in contact with a few people from the forum and wouldn’t have any problem with that.
But with “strangers” from the forum, rather not. At least not for a project like this.

I feel the same. I would like to meet some of them, but the rest feels too risky for me.

I definitely don’t want any crazy people in my house either... once word gets around, it’s easy to sneak into a forum like this, win people over... and then the floor plans are posted here, the address shared via private message, and a year later some shady characters show up.
Yes, okay, it might be paranoid.

The project number is not public, but I would still advise against sharing private addresses in forums.

Aside from that, I think the idea is not bad, but I would prefer if the meeting was organized by the site operator here, rather than at someone’s private home. For visiting construction sites, people can arrange that among themselves or within their own threads.

So, a proper forum meetup? Hmm... I don't think I would drive around for 2 hours or more just for that. A topping-out ceremony would be more likely.

I attended a forum meeting over 10 years ago. It was really nice and enjoyable. Only the core group actually showed up.
