Hello everyone,

We now have the opportunity to build two houses right next to each other (for us and my sister-in-law and brother-in-law).

What do you think, what cost savings could result from this, or which measures should be actively considered here?
  • Same construction company to get a better deal?
  • Potential savings on landscaping/exterior work?
  • Coordinate site preparation?
  • ...

We would be very grateful for any tips or shared experiences.

Thank you very much

Shared construction site toilet.
Otherwise, only in the travel costs, e.g., earthworks. Nothing else!

Oh, come on^^

Yes, the volume is higher, so the general contractor would need to have the capacity to build both houses simultaneously.

But you won’t save a huge amount either. I don’t know what you’re expecting.

We recently bought two identical cars from one dealer. That didn’t impress them either. Only a 0.5% discount.

You can look for a suitable general contractor. If both houses are built more or less at the same time, there is considerable potential for savings.

Are these just adjacent plots or a semi-detached house?
And are the houses identical / mirror images or different?

Back then, we contacted numerous general contractors because we were planning to build a row of townhouses simultaneously. Everyone told us that there wouldn’t be significant savings. Just talk— they keep the savings for themselves, and that’s that.
