Hello dear community! I’m new here. My girlfriend and I want to renovate my parents’ house instead of building a new one. Sustainability has also become an important topic in this project. We are considering installing a photovoltaic system. Does anyone have experience with retrofitting one? Would it even be cost-effective? And what are the requirements regarding this in Austria? I hope you can help us!

100% construction loans over 10 years are currently at 1.5 - 1.7%.
Consumers today don’t even pay more than 5% for personal loans. The rate you mentioned is in the range of overdraft interest rates. Of course, nobody uses that.
Class I is for small local businesses but has nothing to do with consumer creditworthiness.
Anyway, that is not the point at all. The question was whether photovoltaic systems are worthwhile, and the clear answer is YES. Trying to argue this based on some horror financing options is pointless. After all, you can also get such a system installed without any personal liquidity (lease/rental).

Otherwise, the original poster seems to be from Austria, and as far as I know, interest rates there are significantly higher than here. But maybe the original poster can arrange financing through a German bank.

Please verify for yourself. Tip: Even if you don’t plan to use a battery storage from the start, make sure to choose a hybrid inverter when purchasing, so that a battery can later be efficiently managed on the DC side.
