Hello!

To keep the initial costs of my new build low, I am considering installing a used heating system. I have seen that you can get good used ones for around 2000€.

I think this is generally an interesting idea. Let the heating system last only 6 or 7 years... then you simply replace it with another used one. When buying a car, purchasing used is common practice—so why not do the same with the heating system?

I would be interested to hear your opinion...

Best regards,
Theo

What do you mean by "heating"? An oil burner, gas boiler, or heat pump? Would it be compatible with your other equipment and system design? Keep in mind that you might face warranty issues if you install an old heating system (who would install it anyway? As a professional, I would find it difficult.). It's not just about the unit itself; it also needs to be installed properly and may require additional components that you will have to purchase (and possibly replace again in a few years).

A heating system consists of many components. What exactly do you want to install used? The burner? Even a new one doesn’t cost much more than 2000€ (about 2200 USD). Besides, no one will install a used part for you.

Hello and thanks for your reply!

Actually, it doesn’t really matter, but I’m talking about a gas-fired boiler.
And what do you mean by OLD... I’m referring to a unit that is maybe 2-3 years old.

And why doesn’t anyone install a used system? Probably because they want to sell a new one!

Yes, that still costs the same.
If you want to save money, do it yourself. You can accomplish a lot if you’re not completely unskilled.

I would rather wonder why someone would replace their heating system after only two or three years.
