ᐅ Panoramic Windows – Are the Window Prices Affordable?

Hello everyone,

We are in the early stages of planning our house and are currently visiting various model home exhibitions.

We saw a house featuring a window wall about 4 meters (13 feet) wide spanning two floors, which definitely looked very impressive visually. The windows were divided into sections measuring 2 by 2 meters (6.5 by 6.5 feet) each, with two elements stacked vertically.

My online research showed that window costs are not as high as I expected
  • Fixed uPVC window – 300 x 260 cm (10 x 8.5 feet) – 750 EUR

Of course, installation costs are extra.

Is it easy to combine multiple units like this? In this case, four pieces of 2 x 2 meters (6.5 x 6.5 feet)?

What other drawbacks might I be overlooking? I’m aware of insulation values and cleaning concerns.

Has anyone worked with panoramic windows like these and can share concrete cost examples?

Maybe it will just be a passing idea and we’ll move on from it in a week.

Thanks in advance!

I’m not exactly sure whether the problem was radiant cold or the draft caused by the cold air flowing downward. What I do know for certain is that there was/is an issue with cold, and they would prefer to have air vents located in front of the windows.

Exterior wall? Why should the difference between the pane and the wall outside be relevant for radiant cold inside?

An exterior wall has two sides: inside and outside. An interior wall also has two sides, both inside.
Now guess what I compared.

@ypg

I assume you have compared the inside surface of the exterior walls with the inside surface of the window glass?

I believe this is something we men can’t really understand. Women can be very sensitive to drafts and temperature changes.
For example, when adjusting the heating, my wife noticed every single degree I changed on the flow temperature.

Usually, I adjust the heating at our place. Unfortunately, my boyfriend notices every degree I turn it up and sometimes secretly turns it back down. But I always notice it immediately... :-(

A friend of mine also installed an extremely large glass facade spanning two floors. To create the feeling of height, the open space needs to be quite large – and that space does cost extra money. Otherwise, her biggest concern was actually heat protection. However, she hasn't moved in yet.

Putting everything else aside, that price won’t work.
Get a quote, but don’t be surprised if you end up paying 5 to 6 times your 750.

Online prices and local market prices are two completely different things.
