ᐅ Which type of hedge is suitable for privacy screening?

Hello everyone, our single-family house is now finished, and from the very large and long kitchen window, we look directly onto the very ugly house and the neglected garden of our neighbor.

There is 3m (10 feet) of space, about 2m (6.5 feet) of which will be paved. I am at a loss as to what would be suitable, and also visually appealing, without taking up too much space. Hedges seem not tall enough, or do they just take a long time to grow?

Thank you very much!

What do you mean by the third year? Here, each of the 50 plants has developed at least three shoots in the last 3 weeks, all now over 1m (3 feet) tall.

I mean that bamboo usually needs an adjustment period before it starts growing upwards rapidly.
I’ll look up your variety ...

@77.willo How much did you pay for this beauty??????

I quickly read that it’s a new type... so it’s probably not very common yet.

We really like hornbeam or European beech

Here are a few photos:

Several green bamboo canes with leaves in the mulch bed next to a paved path.

The shoots are less than three weeks old and both are over one meter (3.3 feet) long. Since the leaves have not yet unfolded, they will continue to grow taller.

This shoot is less than 48 hours old and about 10 cm (4 inches) tall.

Here is a section of the hedge. It was planted just about 8 weeks ago with a spacing of 60 cm (24 inches). The plants were between 100 and 150 cm (39 to 59 inches) tall and cost around 30 euros each in a 20-liter (5.3 gallon) container. On the advice of the grower, however, we planted them in TKS2 special soil and needed a whole pallet of it, which cost another roughly 500 euros directly from the manufacturer. So, for about 30 meters (98 feet) of hedge, we paid around 2000 euros. Certainly not cheap, but it’s dense and tall quickly, doesn’t have a neglected look, stays green in winter, and is simply something different...

I find it nice, and I would like to have it as a home later on. I do see a bit of a cemetery look [emoji23]

This is definitely not meant as an insult or anything like that. It was just our personal association with some other hedges we had seen. Everyone should design their home the way they like!
