I currently have two different induction cooktops here (one for 39 EUR and one for 59 EUR) and I’m shocked at how noisy both devices are... even on the lowest setting, the fan runs continuously... absolutely terrible.

My question is... can I save myself the trouble of searching further... are induction cooktops generally designed to have the fan running all the time? If so, I’d rather get a conventional hotplate.

What are your experiences?

Best regards, Steffi

Well, the same happens with us, and on the flat panel, there is even an annoying buzzing noise when running at maximum power.

Hello Steffi,
Sorry if I’m being blunt, but what do you expect for that price? Also, everyone has a different perception of noise; what is loud for one person might not bother another.
@TomTom
We also have an induction cooktop, and of course, you hear the fan when it turns on, but after that, you really have to listen closely to hear it. There is also a short buzzing noise when using the power boost function, but that stops once the power level stabilizes. The price is naturally a factor to consider, as well as the pots and pans used.
Additionally, the installation situation matters — meaning whether the cooktop can ventilate adequately to the front and rear.
There are several factors to keep in mind to ensure a perfectly functioning cooktop in the end. Unfortunately, this is sometimes overlooked by some installers.

Uhhmm... I don’t mean a large built-in induction cooktop... but a single hotplate that you can use additionally when needed... Sorry, I probably didn’t explain myself clearly.

Well, freestanding appliances are naturally a bit louder, mainly because they vent directly into open space. This is the same with microwave ovens, for example. However, higher-priced appliances are definitely much quieter.

I wasn’t aware until now that induction cooktops actually make fan noise... Ceramic or traditional cooktops operate completely silently as well. I think I’ll just get a standard double hotplate and call it a day...
