ᐅ Induction cooktop with annoying continuous fan noise

I wasn’t aware of this either! It is definitely quieter than a PC fan, but you can still hear something.

As I mentioned, the flat panel is louder and more annoying, while with the round panel I can hardly hear anything. And our panel was not exactly a cheap one.

The technology is completely different compared to a conventional cooktop or ceramic hob. With induction, the control electronics need to be cooled, and each manufacturer solves this slightly differently depending on the price range, which is why some models are louder while others are almost silent. Also, hearing sensitivity varies from person to person, so the perceived noise level will differ for each individual.

If I understand you correctly, you only need the cooktop occasionally as an additional option. If that’s the case, I would carefully consider getting a conventional cooktop. True, the fans are somewhat louder, but for occasional use, I think it’s manageable.

I occasionally work with induction in electroplating when melting tin. A water circuit is cooled there to dissipate the heat at the coil. I should have guessed that. :-) Only the ambient noise level at work is different.

Honestly, I don’t want any noise at this spot at all. I let some dishes simmer quietly for hours... 😀 and then constantly have a fan noise in the background??? Definitely not something I want... not even quietly.

For our future kitchen, we definitely wanted an induction cooktop... but after this information here, we will take a very close look...

Then choose an induction cooktop—I’m absolutely sure you won’t want to be without it afterward. If you are considering one, I would recommend testing different models at a kitchen showroom; you will notice differences… including in price.
