Hello everyone,
a municipal plot about 4 meters (13 feet) wide borders my property, with a water channel running through it. Due to this water channel, the plot has significant elevation changes and therefore cannot be mowed with a lawn mower.
Since this plot has not been mowed even once this year, the grass there is now over one meter (3 feet) tall.
After repeatedly contacting the municipality, I have now been told that the plot only needs to be mowed once per year.

Does anyone have experience with this? Unfortunately, I have not found any specific regulations or rules on this. I also neglected to ask the municipal officer for the exact regulation.

I would like to find an amicable solution with the municipality but want to be better prepared for the next conversation.

Where is the plot located (in front of the house, behind the garden)? If in doubt, it is being sold as a biotope.

This is specified in our development plan. Undeveloped plots must be mowed twice a year.

We also have two meadows that belong to the municipality located next to or behind us. The local municipality apparently made an agreement with a farmer to mow these meadows and receive the hay in return.

This arrangement has worked for the past few years. This year, probably due to the weather being only mediocre for haymaking, the meadow has not been mowed even once. It has mostly been flattened by rain, and the rest of the growth is about one meter (3 feet) high.

Honestly, I am still undecided about whether to pressure the municipality on this. Visually, it’s unpleasant, with flowering weeds next to my lawn on one side, but on the other hand, it’s not really a huge problem or damage.

Here in our area, everyone simply mows the public green spaces themselves because the others come at most twice a year.

Here, it would be 850 and 3,000 square meters (9,150 and 32,300 square feet). That's something to consider...

Well, you have to weigh it up... either you have tall grass at the door or spend an afternoon each month behind the mower...
