Hello everyone,
a municipal plot about 4 meters (13 feet) wide borders my property, with a water channel running through it. Due to this water channel, the plot has significant elevation changes and therefore cannot be mowed with a lawn mower.
Since this plot has not been mowed even once this year, the grass there is now over one meter (3 feet) tall.
After repeatedly contacting the municipality, I have now been told that the plot only needs to be mowed once per year.

Does anyone have experience with this? Unfortunately, I have not found any specific regulations or rules on this. I also neglected to ask the municipal officer for the exact regulation.

I would like to find an amicable solution with the municipality but want to be better prepared for the next conversation.

If in doubt, I will probably do that as well.
However, I will try to clarify this directly with the municipal maintenance department first. I suspect the maintenance workers simply don’t realize that this piece of land still belongs to the municipality and therefore did not mow it. In the past, the farmer who used my property just mowed it along with it and used the hay.

I would also suggest calling the local authority. The hollow is slowly turning into a forest.
It’s strange that only the sides have been mowed...
But if it’s just once a year, you should still have the opportunity to do some maintenance yourselves. Otherwise, you can forget about creating a front garden.

That was the solution to the mystery.
The public works employees simply weren’t aware that this ditch belongs to the municipality. However, the staff member at the building authority just remained stubborn.
In the meantime, the municipality has also mowed the area.
It’s good that there is a short chain of communication in rural areas.
