Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble several IKEA Besta cabinets soon and want to minimize the effort involved. Therefore, I am interested in which tools you have found particularly helpful and time-saving when building the Besta series. It would be helpful to learn if there are any recommended specialty tools, useful cordless drills, specific bits, or other aids that significantly simplify the assembly—especially compared to the standard tools provided by IKEA.
Do you have any experience with cordless drills that have torque control, bit sets with special bits (e.g., Torx or hex), or jigs that help with alignment and securing parts?
Basically, I’m looking for tips that make the process faster, more ergonomic, and more precise—perhaps also tricks to avoid common pitfalls during assembly. Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

This allows you to tighten screws carefully without damaging the wood or furniture.
For Besta specifically, Torx T20 bits work best. IKEA fittings usually use this size. A bit set with magnetic holders makes handling much easier.
For clamping: Furniture clamps are useful, but if you’re working alone, it can be tricky. It helps to loosely assemble the parts first and clamp them only slightly, so you keep some flexibility.
For beginners, I also recommend following the assembly instructions closely, but don’t hesitate to undo and readjust a screw if something isn’t fitting right.
